Books of the World of Aureth

Stories born beneath a single failing light.
The Aureth Saga

All tales in this world begin in the shadow of the Eternal Candle that crowns the city of Lysora. The Last Candle of Lysora opens the saga as the basin’s borrowed light begins to falter, and Shards of the Shatterlands carries the story east into plains of humming black glass where the Serpent’s first impact still sings.

Below you’ll find the first two books of the series and a glimpse at the planned volumes that follow. Titles and details may still shift as the world grows—but the ember of each story is already burning.

The Last Candle of Lysora
Aureth Saga · Book I · The Lysora Cycle

For seven centuries the city of Lysora has lived beneath a single, towering Candle whose light never goes out. Its glow keeps the Golden Basin warm, holds nightmares at the edge of the fields, and turns the night sky into a soft, familiar gold. Most citizens have never seen true darkness or a sky full of stars—only the dome of light they’ve been taught to trust.

When the Candle flickers for the first time in living memory, shadows at the edge of the light grow long teeth. The keepers of the flame choose a new Torchbearer: sixteen-year-old apprentice Elion Saar, who has spent his life polishing brass, trimming wicks and dreaming of a quiet future in the tower rather than heroics on the road.

Guided by his secretive mentor Maevra Lyr, guarded by the disillusioned soldier Corren Vale, and reluctantly allied with runaway streetfire Tira Ash, Elion must leave the safety of Lysora and carry a spark of the failing Candle across Aureth. Their path leads through the Whispering Forest, past ruined ember shrines and into mountains still scarred by an old firestorm—places where the stories told in the basin do not always match the things that wait in the dark.

As the Candle’s glow thins behind them and strange lights wake ahead, Elion is forced to confront a question the basin has avoided for centuries: what, exactly, has Lysora’s great flame been holding back?

Book II · Shards of the Shatterlands

Shards of the Shatterlands
Aureth Saga · Book II

To the east of the basin lies a land of cracked black glass where the earth hums faintly underfoot. Locals call it the Shatterlands—a scar left by something that once fell burning from the sky. As strange storms begin to gather over the glass plains, old oaths tied to that fall start to tug at those who still carry the Candle’s touch.

Each new storm lances pain through Elion’s veins and makes the rewoven Candle flare in sympathy. With Tira and Corren at his side, he journeys beyond Lysora’s dome into caravan clans who have lived for generations on the crater’s rim, glass serpents sliding under their feet and shard-light burning quietly in their own bodies—and who remember a pact the tower chose to forget.

Caught between radical chain-breakers, proud Lantern Clans and a world learning to share its wounds, Elion must decide whether a god’s fire can remain the burden of a single tower—or be braided across scars, people and lands without breaking them.

Beyond Lysora · Planned Volumes

Working titles and early sparks – no spoilers, only whispers.
Whispers of the First Ember
Aureth Saga · Book III · Working title

North of Lysora, the Whispering Forest grows louder each year. Paths drift. Shrines change their faces. In a hollow where no echo answers, the Shrine of the First Ember waits, its carvings hinting at a time before a single candle ruled the sky.

This book leans into living forests, forgotten ember-gods and the question of what was lost when the basin chose one great flame over many smaller fires.

Drowned Lights of Mistwake Harbor
Aureth Saga · Book IV · Working title

At the edge of Aureth, the Hollow Coast looks out over a sea that glows faintly on moonless nights. In Mistwake Harbor, sailors hang candle-shaped lamps from their masts to answer the light that moves beneath the waves.

Here, tide-bound superstitions collide with basin faiths, and the question becomes not only who owns the fire above—but what is waking in the dark below.

Ashwind Sparks
Aureth Saga · Book V · Working title

The Ashwind Range has slept for generations, its fire sealed in cooled lava and glass-veined stone. When quakes begin to rattle the passes and dull red light stirs in the Ember Caves, stories of old mountain covenants return to the roads of Aureth.

This volume turns toward cracked volcanoes, hidden halls of fire and the fragile bargains mortals make with anything that burns longer than they do.

The Waking Star Serpent
Aureth Saga · Book VI · Working title

Songs and myths across Aureth speak of a serpent of light that once crossed the sky and never quite left. As scattered lights in forest, mountain and sea begin to answer one another, the old story stops feeling like metaphor and starts to sound like memory.

The final planned volume draws together the threads of basin, forest, mountain, glass plain and coast—asking what happens to a world that has lived for centuries on borrowed light when it has to decide what to do with its own.

Reading Order & Extras

Each main novel in the Aureth Saga builds on the last, following the consequences of one city’s failing light across an entire realm. Side stories, novellas and lore pieces set between the volumes are planned as the world deepens, but The Last Candle of Lysora will always be the first step into the basin.

For now, you can explore the Lore and Map to meet Aureth ahead of the remaining books. New titles and covers will be added as soon as they are ready to step into the light.
